OLY.B, born in Moscow, Russia, embarked on an artistic odyssey that reached a pivotal juncture with her move to Los Angeles in 2021. This relocation marked a new chapter in her artistic expression and visibility. Her early collection “Inspired by Life” quickly found its way into private collections around the world, as well as curated hospitality and lifestyle spaces.
In 2022, OLY.B showcased her individuality and artistic skills through two solo shows in Los Angeles and expanded her presence at major international art fairs in Miami. Over the following years, she continued to develop her visual language through solo and group exhibitions, charity auctions, and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
In early 2024, OLY.B unveiled her groundbreaking collection “Breaking Time” at a solo show, marking a significant departure from her previous oil and acrylic works. This innovative series employs artificial intelligence to recreate portraits of cultural icons who have profoundly impacted human history with their talent and distinct personalities. Initially focused on figures who have passed away, the collection expanded in 2025 to include contemporary icons who are still very much present, yet already shaping cultural history in real time.
OLY.B initiated this creative process by crafting detailed prompts for the AI, guiding it to generate base images that capture the essence of these figures. She then invested several hours in manually refining each AI-generated portrait, adjusting facial features, expressions, and adding unique details to bring an unparalleled depth of realism to the artwork. The goal is to make the paintings as lifelike as possible, portraying the icons in a way that they appear to be breaking through the glass — a metaphor for their enduring presence and impact through time.
Once the digital transformation reaches her exacting standards, OLY.B transitions to creating the physical artwork. She selects either wooden or aluminum panels as the foundation, onto which the AI-enhanced image is transferred. Subsequently, she applies a layer of epoxy resin, followed by meticulously placing shattered glass pieces to form a distinctive pattern. This final touch not only adds a textural dimension but also symbolizes a transcendent break through the temporal barrier, offering viewers a visceral connection to these figures and their legacies.
Through “Breaking Time,” OLY.B not only explores the intersection of technology and traditional art but also invites contemplation on the themes of legacy, memory, and the relentless march of time, capturing the essence of iconic personalities—both past and present—in a way that resonates with contemporary audiences while paying homage to their lasting influence.
